Technique: Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is meant to relax the whole body. To be specific, it is categorized under a relaxation technique rather than a therapeutic technique.
When most clients think of massage they are thinking of the swedish massage. It is the most common and well-known technique.
The Massage Therapist uses long gliding strokes going with the grain of the muscle and in the same direction the blood is returning to the heart in. The Therapist may also apply circular motion, firm kneading, percussion-like tapping, bending, and stretching, as needed.
The results from the swedish massage technique are often increased levels of oxygen in the blood, decreased muscle toxins, improved circulation and flexibility, and an ease in muscle tension.
